Great trade for Falcons. He gets a young starting LB with great potential. Mercilus is a first round pick that flashed as a rookie as a part time rusher. He is now the featured rusher in Wade Phillip's defense. I honestly think he sees double digit sacks this year. His potential is capped in our league by being an OLB but like Falcons said, there isn't a better option out there at LB and he has a great contract.

How does this trade work? We need a rule for this type of thing. Falcons traded his pick after it had been skipped twice, meaning the draft should be paused and tab should be deciding the pick for falcons. I almost think that once your pick has been skipped you shouldn't be able to trade your pick. You lose that privilege. Even if its only been skipped once, then does the next guy get to pick while the trade is being voted on or does the draft get paused? Another option would just be to say that the draft doesn't get paused for the trade and someone such as Chargers in this case can pick even though Falcons were already skipped twice. It's tricky because how long does Packers have to pick now? And I guess Chargers can't pick? What happens if Packers don't pick within the time limit he's given?

Here is what the rules cover:
When the pick on the clock is traded during the draft, there is an exception to the time limit. If a trade is approved by both parties involving a pick currently on the clock, that team will not be skipped until a final verdict is reached on approving or rejecting the trade. The recipient of the pick is then awarded the amount of time remaining on the clock, as well as the time it took for the trade to be approved up to a maximum of four hours. Trading of skipped picks do not receive this special time treatment.
So it sounds like GB/ATL pick has been skipped and Packers have no time on the clock to pick but at the same time the draft should be paused since the pick was already skipped twice, or do we just say that being skipped twice rule doesn't count when the pick is traded? If it does apply then should tab be discussing who to pick for the Packers?

I think we need an administrative ruling from Bears or Eagles. I'm not sure what the packers assumed when he made the trade but according to the rules I would say Tab should be discussing who to pick for packers, or Chargers should be OTC with Packers able to pick at anytime. It specifically states in the rules that no special time treatment will be given to a team that trades for a skipped pick. I don't think tab discussing pick for Packer's makes alot of sense so maybe we need to clear it up in the rules that if you trade for a skipped pick the draft does not pause no matter how many times that pick is skipped. That seems to make the most sense.

I think the way it sits, if 2 picks have been made, then the TAB should be discussing who to pick for Packers, not Falcons.
Either way, this is why you should be checking regularly and not making a trade for an OTC pick and then immediately logging off.
And to think, the team that comes out ahead of everyone involved is the Falcons.
