Oakland gives: Vincent Brown SD WR $719,000 (2013) RFA Sam Acho ARI LB $400,000 (2014) 2012 3.10 2013 ATL 2nd Round
49ers give: Calvin Johnson (DET) -- $8,875,000 (2012)
I think this guy knows what hes doing... Seems like a great trade for the both of us. Hated giving up the ATL 2nd because I think it will be a high one but I wanted an elite receiver and it doesnt get much more elite. He gets a young WR with potential and an RFA status and a young starting LB both on great contracts. Johnson only has 1 year left on his contract at almost 9Mil then he will cost me tons to franchise the next couple years. I think it is a very fair trade for the 49ers. Hopefully tab agrees.

Don't like this deal at all.
Megatron is the best WR in the game, a top 5-10 talent in any league. Vincent Brown is a 4th WR, go figure they would be in the same trade, and both be the centerpieces of the deal.
Acho had a good rookie campaign, should continue, but we are talking Calvin Johnson. Not enough for Calvin Johnson.
The 2nd is next year, maybe this year and i think the trade isn't an overboard veto, but just a small veto (chuckle, still would be a veto) The 3rd is ok, but not enough for Calvin Johnson.
And my last point i will make, is how many times Oakland says, "Really good deal for 49ers" - Maybe i only saw it twice, but that is enough, whenever someone says the same thing over and over and over, it usually means they feel guilty, and want everyone to think this is really the case, but more then often, it is not. 49ers does not get a good deal here, and I'm sure many other owners would give much better ones. Keep shopping him 49ers!

i do not in the least bit feel guilty. I say that because i think it was just agreed that tab would look more closely at his trades for the first week. I know megatron is great but he will cost me around 11M next year then 14M and 18M.

Jaguars, I appreciate you looking out for me, but I'm a big boy and can handle myself.
In this deal I got a young linebacker who will be starting for me for the next 3 years. Currently, I have junk at LB. By adding a starter, the points I'm getting from the LB position just skyrocketed.
As far as receiver goes, I have Andre Johnson, Mike Williams, and should this deal go through, Vincent Brown, who has been the best receiver for the Chargers in their OTAs and has RFA status.
Add to that a solid 2nd rounder next year, and a 3rd the year after.
AND the fact Megatron is on the last year of his contract, and we're starting to see the deal take shape.
LB Points I've gained + 2nd Round + 3rd Round > WR points difference between Megatron and Vincent this year.
Guaranteed.
That's why it makes sense for both sides.
Sometimes you have to not try and look at everything in a vacuum.

Brown had no OTA's last year and was injured early. When he stepped in for an injured vincent jackson or Floyd dont remember which one, he did awesome. Floyd is out of contract after this year and Brown is set to take his spot. 9ers don't plan on competing this year so this years production isnt a big deal although he should be #3 in SD and Floyd never stays healthy. To keep Megatron 9ers would have to franchise him next year and every year after. Also Meachem has never lived up to his potential so Brown could easily be #1 SD receiver next year. Acho is also very valuable as I put him on the trade block for a 2012 2nd rounder and had 2 offers almost instantly. Then you have to add the other 2 picks. The falcons 2013 2nd should be top 10. I love brown but I want to win THIS year. He should be solid this year but hes not megatron by any means and thats why I'm giving a solid young lb on a great contract and 2 draft picks. I also think 49ers has explained his side quite well and he is obviously not new to Fantasy Football

Like the deal. If you want to win now and have the cap space then C.Johnson is ahuge piece that would make any team much much better. If you are building for the future and don't plan on competing this year, then Johnson is practically useless for you. IMO 9ers is getting a lot back for a player that can't really help him, and Raiders is getting a player to help him make a run this year.

To go back to the "I think I know what I'm doing" part of this thread... and I know it's just the preseason, but check this line out for Vincent Brown:
4 receptions, 81 yards, 1 TD at the half.
This kid is SUPER talented. I just hope he gets a starting role soon.

Vincent Brown was carted off the field in Saturday's preseason game with a left ankle injury. Brown landed awkwardly on an 18-yard touchdown from Charlie Whitehurst to open the second half. Initial indications are that this is a serious injury. Brown finished with two receptions for 31 yards before exiting, and saw significant playing time with the first-team offense.

Can't predict injury. Megatron gets injured and the entire side of my deal will be shit.

Well it's a good thing I dont need Vincent Brown this year then huh? He could be injured all year and it wouldn't matter for my team as I'm building for 2-3 years out.
It's a shame he's injured though... he's gaining a lot of momentum this preseason.
It will say a lot about his talent and what they think of him if they keep him on the 53 and dont put him on the IR though.

Yeah man he was looking real good with Meachem and Floyd not playing that well. He should have his chances so hopefully he can come back this year to develop some more.

From what I understand he broke the bone and had very minimal ligament damage. Even with surgery it will heal better and faster then if he tore ligaments. I can see him still becoming the best wide out for the Chargers this year. I hope so anyway, I own him in a couple leagues myself.
