could someone define this for me, is it if team a and team b both faced team c, that record would count toward a common games record?

That's correct Joe.
Here's a real scenario for example, since we currently have a situation where common games played apply as a tie-breaker.
Redskins and Packers currently have equivalent records.
Using the Wild-Card Tiebreaker:
1. Overall Win % Still tied (Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers) 2. Head-to-Head Winning Percentage Current grouping (Washington Redskins -.---, Green Bay Packers -.---) Still tied (Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers) 3. Div. Win % . . . . tied teams are not from the same division so going to next tiebreaker Still tied (Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers) 4. Common Games Win% (0 game minimum requirement) Common game opponents (Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals) Win % in common games (Washington Redskins 0.500, Green Bay Packers 0.333) broke the tie
Therefore Redskins are currently seeded #10 with the Packers holding the #11 seed.

For playoff seedings I would recommend visiting MFL and visiting the ?Seedings? Tab (please someone correct me if I'm wrong and post a link to the tab I am on about - currently on my phone).
This will list the playoff seedings for both conferences and if you press on the small + next to a team it will list the reason that they are above or below a team with the same overall win-loss record.
