Dolphins send:
Melvin Gordon (RB-SDC) $2,572,000 (2019) Brandon Marshall (WR-NYJ) $5,500,000 (2018) Alec Ogletree (LB-STL) $1,192,000 (2017)
Patriots send:
Brice Petty (QB-NYJ) $400,000 (2017) RFA Chris Conley (WR-KCC) $916,000 (2019) Kwon Alexander (LB-TBB) $400,000 (2017) RFA 2016 2nd (NEP) 2016 3rd (NEP) 2017 1st (NEP) 2017 4th (NEP)
Planning for the future here. Alexander and Ogletree are comparable in my mind but the former's contract helps me out more. I didn't really like Gordon to begin with so I'm happy to move on from him. I'm sad to see Marshall go though but I feel I got a good return for the lot and those picks should help me fill out depth.

Patriots Accept
Looking to replace Randle with a less efficient Gordon, as well as adding a top WR in Marshall, whilst moving a full draft class, my 1st round pick from this year in Conley, and a top LB in Kwon, and a QB prospect in one of the most unstable QB locations.

This is an interestingly crafted trade. Gordon has been a real disappointment in his rookie year but will have a reasonably good NFL career based on his team and their current RB situation. Marshall is a quality long-term Top 10 to Top 20 WR. Ogletree and Alexander are a toss up at LB. Conley is a quality WR with a bright future with KCC. Petty is a lottery ticket. While I would prefer the Patriots side in this trade because it offers a more immediate return on his investment, the longer term benefit to the Dolphins with the 2016 2nd & 3rd and the 2017 1st and 4th are significant. Like I said, while I prefer the Patriots side of this trade, the long term value is reasonable for the Dolphins. While I am aware of the comments made on the Trade Discussion thread, the trade is not vetoable. Pass (1-0).

Think I'm going to avoid the comments being made, and attempt to assess this trade as is from the Dolphins point of view. Patriots position is self-explanatory in making this trade, while the Dolphins, in looking toward the future doesn't really define a game plan to get this organisation on track.
Gordon, whether liked or not, is a 1st round pick and Marshall's contract makes him that much more valuable. None of the picks will replace either of those players, and from first glance seems to be a major step backwards for the Dolphins.
So if the Dolphins wouldn't mind explaining their logic in how they feel this trade will help their team in the long run, I could get a much better understanding and make a fair assessment.

So if the Dolphins wouldn't mind explaining their logic in how they feel this trade will help their team in the long run, I could get a much better understanding and make a fair assessment. I wasn't getting a lot of discussion from other owners and I was looking to get picks and younger upside players to make this team my own. I'm not high on Gordon but I feel like the picks are a good start for him and can give me options to add depth. I like Kwon over Ogletree for several reasons but their values are about even. Marshall was added late. I didn't want to lose him to be honest, but cap is a problem for both of us at the moment. With the trade deadline looming and my life extremely busy and stressful at the moment I am motivated to do something with this team this year and Pats have been patient about discussing a trade. All that said, I feel like I'm a fair judge of talent but not necessarily value. As I posted elsewhere this is only my 2nd year playing in a 32 team league after playing ~5 years in 10 and 12 team leagues. This is also my first orphan. I feel like I get some good pieces in this trade, but the more it is debated the less confident I feel about the value. I trust the judgment of the TAB who are more familiar with this league and with player/pick values in a league of this size. If you feel the trade is lopsided or harms my team then veto as you normally would. I'm an "in the best interest of the league" kind of guy so you're not going to hurt my feelings if you do. Pats and I can try to hash out another deal before the deadline or we can take our time to discuss a trade for the off-season after the deadline passes.

Thanks Jason, really appreciate the input and respect the fact you are willing to make moves that will make the team your own. Again, I have reserved looking at other comments as to avoid any personal opinions (as we all have one) and assess this trade on the merits of overall value/benefit to each respective team and any possible detriment.
Further, I agree with your assessment of Kwon and Ogletree. Further, I've found that values not only somewhat fluctuate and can be subjective depending upon the thoughts of the individual GM, and so imo is but a small part of the overall equation. So where value is concerned I will say that the late addition of Marshall I believe is what really places this trade totally out whack.
However, for that reason alone, I will skip over the "value" and focus on the benefits vs. harm to the teams.
As I've already stated, the benefit to the Pat's is self-explanatory. For the Dolphins however, they are facing a near total rebuild of their offense. And to suffer such a loss without gaining a fair opportunity to significantly advance the team, rather than to chance probability, is too a huge risk.
The jest is this...
First of all, and this point is of utmost importance, when rookie GM's (for lack of a better term) deal with seasoned vets, it requires TAB to take extra precautionary measures to protect the GM, team, and league from harm.
Secondly, I'm not seeing a benefit to the Dolphins organisation at all. In fact, to the contrary. Facing a total rebuild of the offense next season, a #1 RB and WR, both on awesome contracts is a great start...in exchange for??? If I could see it, perhaps I could approve.
In sum, if we fail the new GM, we fail the league. For that reason I can't approve this trade.
Veto 1-1
PS...Of course we all (at least those of us who have to learn the hard way) get our cherry popped at some point. But given the opportunity to sit back and learn will fair much better with giving us a definite direction to take our team. Next season is around the corner...new perspective, fresh ideas...take advantage of patience. No need to make a mistake that will take us years to correct, without adequate warning.

Not complaining at all here but I would like votes to be cast ASAP so if this is vetoed we have a chance to rework this deal.
The trade deadline is in 2 days, that's all

Going to approve this, as I'm not particularly fond of Gordon, and both teams seem to have thought about it and laid out their reasoning. I definitely like it better for the Pats though.
Approve (2-1)
