I have to agree with Jack, this trade is out of control with the Ravens selling out everything for two players essentially, and which Brees is older than dirt. The franchise for Kapernick will be around 12M, no way that justifies the swap with Brees at the 11M salary range. So everything else in the deal is given up for Bryant, on a franchise tag? It may not be my place, but this trade is a wrecking ball for this league.

I'm firmly against this trade and see the Ravens paying an insane price where Preston Brown, Charles Johnson, and Ryan Matthews are all moving without any compensation. However the Bills see otherwise, that's the point of having a TAB.
I wouldn't say that the league is in shambles at all, actually I would say the opposite, and comments like that aren't really necessary.
Brees is old, yes, but he is still a top 5 QB, which is a significant upgrade on Kaep who will end up costing 15m on a FT next season, which I can easily see a team not doing, making him a 1yr rental compared to a top (yet old) QB on a longer and reasonable contract. Dez is a top 5 WR, and will easily get an offer in TT, if and whenever he gets tagged that way.
Parts of the deal work, but as a whole it is grossly weighted one way. Smaller deals would potentially be a better way to do this, and would also make it a lot more fair if done correctly.

A number of you have expressed your opinions concerning my approval of this trade, some more tactfully than others. So, here is my expanded rational. I think this trade comes down to how you view the future potential of the players that the Ravens are trading. Right or wrong, this was how I looked at it.
Kaepernick - Top 20 QB in a bad offense & a 1 year rental Revis - Good DB but fantasy disaster and a 1 year rental Baldwin - Overrated WR with limited upside and a really bad contract Riley - Fantasy Sharks #58 LB and over-the-hill in my opinion Cooks - Future Superstar Landry - Fantasy Sharks #26WR - Future potential - Great contract Robinson - #21 LB in a very bad defense. Longer term potential. Brown - Unproven 2nd year LB in a great defense. Future potential. Johnson - Top 15 DE, but over-the-hill in my opinion Mathews - #2 RB with a significant injury history & a RB1 contract.
So if you look at it in terms of future potential it comes down to….are Brees and Dez worth the potential of Cooks, Landry & Robinson plus a better supporting cast. While I believe that the Ravens significantly overpaid for Brees & Dez, building your team around those two stars is not a vetoable strategy.
But, that's exactly why we required 3 TAB members to approve or veto a trade. Finally, I do agree with the Bengals comments that this trade would be easier to evaluate fairly if it was broken into smaller pieces.
