Bengals give:
Sean Weatherspoon (LB-ATL) $405,000 (2014) 2014 Eagles 4th
Cardinals give;
2014 Bills 1st 2014 Bills 2nd 2015 Cardinals 1st
is it just me or is this a gross overpay?? I would expect this for like patrick willis

its overpay but the picks are future picks which always dilutes their value. And unless you think your team is going into the shitter those picks shouldn't be too bad Jk, but really, weatherspoon is a top LB so I think it's an overpay but not enough to veto

This just means Dan will want 4 1sts for Willis. I guess he is staying in NE.

No-one has made an offer even close to this for Willis, so yeah. He is staying

VAST overpay which is fantastic. I like it when someone from my division gets weaker via trade.

haha...guess I must be seeing things different - as maybe are the Cards. 2 years @ $405K, and opportunity to franchise, and/or TT which will likely bring in two 1st round picks seems like an equitable trade. So in essence, the two 1sts could be coming back after a couple of years of use...

Doubters are always nice, I know it's an over pay but as long as I have draft enough draft picks (18) over two years ill be fine an I'm still gonna be acquiring more picks

Surely not enough to net a Blackmon or Kendall Hunter as the Raiders did with a one year contract with their trade of Bowman. And I'm quite sure (not certain) that Raiders will agree, that while the gain helps in one aspect of the game, it's detrimental in another. Especially when defense is (should be) the backbone of a championship team.

No hate, just stating facts. Also, since I have been here, I havent seen ANYONE get the 2 1sts that a TT tag asks for as paying 10M+ PLUS giving up 2 1sts is usually out of anyone's reach. I also thought we were getting rid of the TT. Hey, kuddos to you Bengals. Hate is what people say about trades me and Dan, maybe more so Dan, make sometimes but even I didnt think I could talk someone into giving me 2 1sts AND a 2nd rd pick for a very good LB.

Appreciate it Giants...Still all about perception though. All depends on where people place their values. Some value picks more than players while others (such as myself) would rather have an established player. Many individual player's that hold similar value have been traded across the board. Of course it's doubtful someone would pay a player $10 MIL AND two 1st's (though Foster came close last year), BUT it is possible. And a TT on someone like Brees might easily surpass $10 MIL. I would suspect that the cost would be significantly lower for a top 10 LB, so should someone get the opportunity to pay between $4-6.5 MIL, it's really not out of the question.

while it's easy to say that Cards overpayed with the picks he has given, critics need to take into account the context--as Cards said, he still has 18 picks over the next 2 years, so losing these picks is very little for him.
Bit like the Bowe trade--huge overpay at first look, but in the context of clearing $13m salary, it is no longer that outrageous.
