Panthers Get:[/u] Arian Foster (HOU - RB) $480,000 (2011) RFA Derrick Ward (HOU - RB) $875,000 (2011) Brian Cushing (HOU - LB) $774,000 (2013) 2013 Texans 2nd Round Pick
Texans Get:[/u] 2011 Panthers 1st Round Pick (#1 overall) 2011 Panthers 2nd Round Pick (#1 in round) 2012 Panthers 1st Round Pick 2013 Panthers 1st Round Pick Dan Connor (CAR - LB) $550,000 (2011)
He gets two absolute beasts with great contracts & becomes an instant contender. And an undervalued back-up in Derrick Ward.
I get basically 4 firsts and serviceable LB for this year.

If anybody questions the throw in of Dan Connor. I need somebody to fill the void left by Cushing. Connor is nice .... when healthy.
I'm taking a gamble. Not the Panthers.
Dan Connor has played in 27 games in 3 seasons in the NFL.

What a potential for the first blockbuster!
I like this trade on paper, and would have approved it. Here is why-
To get Foster, and Cushing, you should have to give up quite a bit. Especially since Cushing is now back to being the MLB, they say. Right now they are at their highest value and their highest risk. The rest is just fluff to me, to make each owner happier. Texans are obviously going for building up. Carolina, is going for win now, and taking a HUGE risk, in my opinion. Like Texans said, Foster and Cushing make him a instant contender.......wait.... except for what the Lions brought up....hey, he doesn't have a starting QB, and no "obvious" way to get one! bye bye contention!
But wait- should that cause me to approve/disapprove the trade itself? interesting thought. I have no desire to run the Panthers team for him. No idea what he has in mind, or up his sleeve, but I would hate to think he would make a trade of this caliber and not have a plan in mind for a QB.
For me, I think the trade looks good as it is, and its not up to me to speculate on the Panthers QB plans, and factor that into the decision.
Disclaimer- I'm assuming my post was all ok to say in this forum, and thats what this forum is for.

He wins in 2011, I win in 2013.

like i said i was ok with everything in the deal except the 2011 Car 2nd the 2013 TEX 2nd and ward, like i said i would have approved it if they had not been in it. 3 first and connor for cushing and foster.
i dont like to veto trades but i know we have i think 7-8 TAB members and my 1 wont stop a trade from going through so i am going to vote the best way i can objectivly, i agree everyone has a right to run thier team.

Oh I know, and my post was not meant to come down on either you, Lions, or the TAB. I was just analyzing, as if I were a TAB, and were voting, and quoted you about the QB point.
