cant believe this was approved Yeah, sorry. I started to veto it this morning, but got pulled into a meeting. Life gets in the way and Pierre Thomas and a 1st go for Felix Jones. I think it's pretty bad.

I think the 1st is debatable as if he is towards the end its a higher risk. 4ths are fliers. The Saints traded up to take Ingram and in my opinion that spells the end for Thomas (regardless of K extension). Now I don't care for Felix Jones, but he is likely a RB1 for at least a year or two. I know that clearly Texans and I disagree as to the value of picks vs. players.

Can I just say on this that, while I appreciate that some GMs wouldn't have made this trade, to say 'you're pretty peeved off' or that 'you can't believe it was approved' is frankly ridiculous.
How many 3 down running backs who, if injury free, will get +1000 yards rushing and +500 yards recieiving are there in this league today? 10 maybe? Rice, Peterson, Johnson, Charles, Gore, Jones-Drew, Forte, Foster maybe a couple more?
Last year, while splitting carries with a goalline and short yardage back and missing some time with injury, Jones gained 850 yards rushing and 450 receiving. With Barber gone, those numbers will only increase. Garrett loves him, has been saying all off-season that he'll use him more. He'll be a player on all 3 downs and you can't say that of many RBs and that's why they get drafted before everybody else in fantasy drafts.
I'll tell you right now that if Jones had been drafted this year by the Cowboys coming into the backfield situation that the Cowboys have and the talent around him, he'd be the first rookie off the board in every fantasy draft. Well worth a first rounder (particularly one that I'm confident will be a low pick) wouldn't you say?
The 4th rounder is a flyer, as Carolina said, there's no-one I want on the board left. I tried to trade up to get Colin Mccarthy but the Pack made a great pick there so that pick is useless to me.
Pierre Thomas is basically screwed barring an injury or poor play from Ingram. Ingram will be 1st and 2nd down and they've signed Darren Sproles, one of the best 3rd down backs in the league so where does he get playing time? I just don't see it.
I think I've acquired the one piece I need to be really competitive and I don't think I've given up too much for it but to get a 3 down RB1 you have to pay the price as they are rare beasts these days.
With some of the trades that have been made and approved in this league, I feel that some of the comments made above are ridiculous in comparison. If you disagree with the move, fine, thats your call but to be 'peeved off' that it was approved is not appropriate at all. The trade doesn't threaten the integrity of the league or anything, I gave up two picks (neither of which I would be able to get a starting RB with) and a reserve RB for a top 10 RB in a league where they are gold dust. That's not unreasonable.
Thanks for your time.

I have to agree....I have seen far far far worse trades approved in this league

I also have to agree...imo, the value of each player/position is greatly increased (especially QB, RB, TE, K) in a league such as this. I think it is this "value" that is hard to determine at times, yet asking ourselves "if we were the ones in that position" i.e needing a QB or RB etc. to compete...
And too, depending on the time frame you entered in, a lot of the main player FA's were already taken.
Basically we have to play the hand we are dealt. A look around the league will prove that not all teams will be real competitors towards a possible championship this year, or possibly even the next couple of years for that matter.
But as things start to shake down and settle, we should start to see a slow but sure change towards a full-competitive league.

very well put, Saints.
Its all a matter of opinions I guess. Personally, I couldn't believe it was vetoed at all. I admitted, it wasn't a trade I personally would have made, but in no way did it affect the integrity of the league, or speak of collusion. All it did was help both teams, it the respective owners' eyes, and isn't that the object of every trade?
I approved it, because what I saw was a current RB1 that is the missing piece to a team, traded for a first rounder down the road and two flyers. Nothing wrong with that, like I said, helps both teams, one in the short run, the other in the long run.
