2012 Waivers Cap Hits Thread: Last Updated: May 31, 2012 Practice Squad Thread: Last Updated: May 31, 2012
The Cincinatti Bengals have forfeited their 2012 Draft in favor of acquiring talent that will help them pursue efforts of creating a dynasty... The trading of their picks, coupled with other players or through a process of trades has led them to acquire:
Joe Flacco Ryan Matthews Kendall Hunter Torrey Smith Laurent Robinson Rey Maualuga Aaron Williams Kendrick Lewis
Surely foregoing the upcoming draft was well worth their efforts. What do you think?

The Cincinatti Bengals Front Office has released their goals of targeting a #1 WR in FA. With a number of teams looking to add WR's, and with few receivers available, it isn't going to be an easy task, and they could very well be easily outbid by a number of teams.

"In between a rock and a hard-place" is the current condition owner Darryl Ray describes his team. "Right now if we have some of last years rookies and 1st year players step up to the plate, I feel we're in a great position to compete for the ultimate title. If they fail to step up and win a starting position however, we're faced with focusing on the AFC North Title and trying to place ourselves in a better position for next year."
Efforts to improve the Bengals organization this off-season have included a near total defensive replacement of the 2011 squad, as well as a trade at QB and a subtle addition to the offensive unit. The offense output will depend heavily on second year RB Thomas (MIA), and at the moment, Goodson (OAK), who has joined the team to add a little stability.
Overall, the Bengals are hoping for a great training camp with limited to no injuries.

The Cincinatti Bengals will enter into into training camp with 12 potential starters from last seasons draft, 4 on offense and 8 on defense. Less any injuries, 2 of 4 offensive players are a lock to start, and 6 of 8 have an excellent chance of starting on the defensive side of the ball. "Basically, we're a young team with a great possibility of playing a lot of years together. Our plan for the team at the moment is to have a great core of guys like we have now, and let them play together and compete in this league throughout the 2015 season. We may lose about 3 guys after the 2014 season to FA, but for the most part we have signed them with the intent of competing in this league for years to come."

As the pre-season games near, the Bengals plan to keep a close watch on each of their players. "What we're actually hoping to obtain is a much better start to the regular season then we had last year. I think our biggest problem was trying to figure out exactly who to start early in the season for maximum production. Now that management has a better understanding of the system and where each player potentially fits in, we should start out very competitive right out the gate".
Cincinatti started out last year losing their first 3 games, winning 2 and losing 4 the first half of the season. They ended-up with a strong finish, winning 5 of the last 6 games.

Minus Ryan Matthews and Jerome Simpson in the line-up on offense to start the season, the Cincinatti Bengals will be leaning heavily upon their defense as they face off with division rival Cleveland Browns. Last year the Browns beat the Bengals in the opening game of the season, and went on to lose the last of their two contest. "It would help us out tremendously if those two guys could suit up and play, but it is what it is and we'll have to play with the best available players. The good thing is, I think we have a pretty solid defense, and look forward to opening this season off with a W", says Owner Darryl Ray.

The Bengals (1-0) started off the season with a win over division rival Cleveland Browns by the score of 208.95 - 155.94.
As expected, it was Cincy's defense that carried the weight in that game. Owner Darryl Ray says, "I'm very proud our defense was able to step-up and contribute heavily towards the win for us. Unfortunately, they'll have to do it again next week against a pretty offensively powered Ravens team. But I'm going to be honest, we're going to need more of our players stepping-up to the plate."
As they face off with the Baltimore Ravens (1-0) for the first of their two division match-ups, the Bengals will look to improve upon their current efficiency rating of 86.9% and involve more of the offense.

In the thriller of a game between the defending AFC North Division Champions Baltimore Ravens (1-1) and rival Cincinatti Bengals (2-0), the Bengals pulled out a narrow nail-biting victory by the unofficial score of 242.37 - 237.72
Owner Darryl Ray had this to say, "Nothing but the utmost respect for that team. It was a hard fought battle and both teams played their heart out". I'm just extremely happy that we walked away with the victory, and couldn't be any more proud of the way our team played."
By improving their efficiency rate to 89.7% overall, and taking the early division lead in the race for the title, Cincy met both of their projected goals in this game. Next week they hope to have Ryan Matthews and Prince Amukamara in the line-up for the 1st time this season as they take on the New Orleans Saints (1-1).

The Cincinatti Bengals improved their overall record to 3-0 by defeating the New Orleans Saints (1-2) by the unofficial score of 240.29 - 228.60
This is the 1st game in which the offense actually carried the majority of the load. "It was exciting to see that after Spiller had to leave the game, Locker and Torrey Smith were able to have a huge game and the other 2 RB's were able to contribute in the victory", says Darryl Ray
Now at a 90.8% overall efficiency rating, the team is doing all they can to win despite injuries and mishaps. "All we can do is play our best players, let them play to win, and hope for the best. We feel we have a very special team, in that each week a set of players are able to step-up to the plate and make plays when needed".
Being one of only two undefeated teams (Atlanta Falcons is the other) remaining in the league, Cincy will face off with the AFC East Buffalo Bills (2-1) next week in hopes of keeping their undefeated seasonal start alive. Although the team has a slim chance of having C.J. Spiller suit up against his former team, they aren't too overly concerned if he has to take a week off to heal from his recent injury. "Mainly it's because Ryan Matthews and Prince Amukamara are back from injuries, Jacob Tamme is fine, and Jerome Simpson will be returning from suspension. We're finally getting close to having all our players healthy and available".

Suffering their first loss of the season to the undefeated Buffalo Bills (4-0) by the unofficial score of 211.60 - 202.17, the Cincinatti Bengals (3-1) have fallen into a tie with the defending AFC North Division Champs Baltimore Ravens (3-1), who defeated fellow rival Cleveland Browns (1-3) this week to keep pace in the divisional race.
While the defense was able to hold their own once again, the offense produced their worse output of the season, a dismal 77.17 pts. Owner Darryl Ray says, "It's totally unacceptable. While our defense isn't quite living up to expectations, we're going to have to show dramatic improvement on offense if we are to be competitors this year. I'm hoping this is a one-time mishap as our whole offensive unit just completely self-destructed once Locker went down. If we play like that next week, things could get pretty ugly in the division."
Up next for the Bengals are the Steelers (2-2) who wish to remain in contention, and have been averaging over 241 ppg over their past two outings. "It's really quite simple, we're going to have to be clicking high on all cylinders with very little to no room for error." I can assure you that this weeks practice will be no picnic.

After a mediocre performance last week that resulted in their 1st loss of the season, the Cincinatti Bengals (4-1) were able to walk a way with a win this week despite a sub-par outing. Outscoring division rival Pittsburg Steelers (2-3) by the unofficial score of 169.35 - 148.75, the Bengals now sit a top the North Division race as the Baltimore Ravens (3-2) fell to the New England Patriots (4-1).
"Neither the offense or defense particularly stood out, but our collective mediocre performance resulted in a victory, and with that I'm very thankful", says owner Darryl Ray.
As the overall production plummeted for the 2nd straight week , the Bengals will now face the Carolina Panthers (3-2) in hopes of reviving their dwindling output.

The last game of the 1st half of the season ended in a decisive victory for the Cincinatti Bengals (5-1), who defeated the Carolina Panthers (3-3) by the unofficial score of 266.15 - 122.95. Without Drew Brees, Marcus Colston, Brandon LaFell, and a slew of defensive players available to play for the Panthers, Cincy was able to cruise to a relatively easy W. However Owner Darryl Ray says it was about "more than just getting a win this week".
"It was nice, in fact very nice to be able to go in and get the win. But it was about more than just getting a win this week. So, so much more. Our offense has sputtered over the last couple of weeks, and our defense really hasn't been consistent. But this game we were able to put together an overall pleasing performance all around. Don't get me wrong, there's still much improvement we need to make. Getting the entire team involved is our goal. It's our mission. We have to be totally prepared to play the 2nd half of the season. Emotionally, mentally, and physically, we're going to have to go out there and prove we're legitimate contenders this year."
Bengals will kick-off the 2nd half of the season hoping to continue their win streak by beating the Pittsburg Steelers (3-3) whom they defeated 2 weeks ago by about 20 pts.

This weeks victory over the Pittsburg Steelers (3-4) by the unofficial score of 156.09 - 118.05, coupled by the loss to divisional rival Baltimore Ravens (4-3), helped move the Cincinatti Bengals (6-1) into a two game lead in the race for the AFC North Division Championship. Once again the Bengals struggled for the 2nd time in 3 outings to put decent numbers on the board. Both recent struggles were against the Steelers.
"All I can say is that despite our overall production this week we were able to get the W", remarks owner Darryl Ray. "Our guys know how important it is at this point of the season to go out and fight and make plays when necessary."
Next up for Cincy is the New England Patriots (6-1). This will be the first meeting between these two teams.
"We've been watching the Pat's play this year and have seen how they can put numbers on the board pretty consistently. We've also seen their weaknesses and that's what we'll be looking to expose. Either way we're going to have to go out there and match their intensity, smack for smack, hit for hit."

In reference to this weeks game between the New England Patriots and Cincinatti Bengals, Owner Daniel of the Patriots had this to say, "Week 8 was the attention of my plans this year as I knew that it would be a game that could determine the possible #1 and #2 seeding. Despite being behind in the divisional race to the Bills we still have a game against them in week 12 where we could regain the division title and the #1 or #2 seed that it brings with it. This week will be the Bengals first match where they believe that they can wrap up the division and this makes them all the more stronger. However I do think that with our defense we can restrict their young offensive stars whilst letting Tom and his gang let rip. I do expect a close game, however I predict that we shall come out victorious by a 10 to 20 point margin. Let the battle commence and may the best team win"

In fantasy's preview Game of the Week, the Cincinatti Bengals (7-1) defeated the New England Patriots (6-2) by the unofficial score of 231.56 - 198.85. The victory hasn't changed much in the way of the playoff standings, other than moving the Houston Texans (6-2) ahead of the Patriots in the wildcard race, as all other respective leaders won their week 8 games.
Minus key players C J Spiller, Torrey Smith, Jairus Byrd and Aqib Talib, Cincy stuck to its game plan by executing a defensive attack that was able to overcome the heroic efforts of Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and Brandon Marshall.
"We knew it would be nearly impossible to stop Brady and company, so we concentrated on outscoring them in every other aspect of the game. Fortunately for us our defense was able to rise to the occasion and there's didn't. So they were absolutely right in saying it would boil down to defense. We'll have to see what the playoffs bring, whether we will face them again this year or not."
Next up for the Bengals are the San Diego Chargers (4-4) who hope to stay in the playoff race, while the Bengals are trying to move one step closer to securing the AFC North Division title.
