Cowboys trade:
Montez Sweat (DE-WAS) 1.099M (2023)
To The Patriots for:
Jason Verrett (CB-SF) 900K (2022)
Well this came down to need for both. The Patriots were left a little light at DE after the position changes and I only had 2 CB after the Ramsey trade. As long as Verrett comes back healthy which I believe he should I think we both end up happy with this trade.
Thanks to The Pats for sticking it out. We finally got a deal done.

Patriots accept.
Those MFL position changes decimated my DE depth. This is a deal that helps us both, Verrett will be beastly if he stays on the field next season so he will be missed.

I don't like this trade for the Cowboys, they get an aging oft injured CB (a low value position in fantasy) for a very decent young end who still has plenty of years ahead of him.
There's not enough back for him in my opinion so I pass but still feel the need to post that opinion
Vote still at 1-0 in favour of approve

Alright well since nobody has said anything on here in the last couple days I guess I will. We both like the players involved in this trade and I think both come with risks. Mine is obviously the injury risk to the player I’m aware of Verretts injury history over the last 5 seasons or so. I’m betting on a last full healthy season from him. On the other side I think Sweat under performed last year (honestly the entire Washington defensive front did) Dan is betting on the bounce back. Will either one happen? Who knows. Both sides have risks I’m not pretending mine isn't more risky but Verrett was a really good corner when healthy so I was ok taking the risk on the high upside. I know CB isn’t a valued spot but if you can get production from it why wouldn’t you?

I think we may need some new TAB here. I've abstained, we have a TAB involved, Frank seldom gets involved in trade decisions, IIRC ditto for Greg, apologies if that's incorrect. Anthony has voted. 3 others haven't been on for a few weeks. Roby is the only TAB member who's been on and not voted I think looking at the members list
I do apologise but an abstain is better than a Veto.
My fantasy positional rankings by the way in 32 teamers
QB WR RB LB S DE K DT CB
add in the 1 yr Verret is on v the extendable 2 Sweat is on, the 31 years old v the 26 of Sweat, the injury history over the last five seasons of the former v the latter who I do concede missed games last season but Verret averages 4 games season since 2016 and most of that came on one season
i really couldn't in all good faith sanction that deal There are corners in FA right now that might be able to do a similar job.
I do understand Sweat could break a leg and Verret could have a career season but I'd need a crystal ball.

When I first saw the trade, my instincts were identical to what Kevin has expressed. A fairly young player at with a reasonable and extendable contract situation, for a CB who's quality type should be able to be found on the waiver wire once week 1 kicks off.
VETO 1-1

Approve (2-1) I actually think that Verrett as the starting CB for the 49ers. While the 1 year deal bothers me. Franchise tagging CBs in this league is pretty cheap. Not sure that I would want to extend a 31 year old CB. The bottom line for me is that this trade meeting the needs of both franchises.

I’m going to put a veto on this deal. Verrett is an average CB and probably on his last legs. Sweat is young and extendable. This trade doesn’t make sense to me from the Cowboys side. I feel If the Pats added a little pick value then it would be more balanced. I know Verrett is good but he’s on a 1 year deal and older and has an extensive injury history. Sweat is coming off a big injury but is young and has a better chance of rebounding. I just think the compensation for Sweat is a little light here. Veto 2-2

Veto 3-2
Verrett can’t stay healthy. He’s only played more than one game in a season once in the last 5 years. CB’s are easy to come by in this league and a guy like Sweat isn’t.

Montez Sweat us a top 10 DE. He should not be traded for a CB who's value us easily replaceable. Cb is the the low end with kicker in value
Veto 4-2
