2024 RFA BIDDING SCHEDULE

Restricted Free Agents:
Restricted Free Agents (RFAs) are free agents who have 3 years or less NFL experience (players are signed with RFA status if they are in the last year under original contract. Years within the league will be determined by nfl.com at www.nfl.com/players.
During each pre-season, teams may tender offers to their RFAs with expiring contracts or let them become UFAs. Players that have been tendered offers will be available to other teams during the Restricted Free Agency bidding period. The team that owns the RFA player has the Right of First Refuse (ROFR) otherwise known as the right to match the winning offer and retain the rights to the player. If the offer is not matched, the new team will acquire the player and must provide the original team with draft picks (where applicable) from the current year's draft as compensation. RFAs with expired contracts may not be traded during the pre-season until they have been signed to new contracts.
Here are the details of the NEW RFA System at Dynasty NFL. Beginning this year (2022) we have adopted a modification to our RFA bidding process, which has increased the tender offers. This modification will allow us to keep with custom of teams offering an initial tender for their players; but, will both: 1) establish a minimum contract offer for teams wishing to place a bid on the player; and, 2) eliminate the need for TAB to vote on contract offers from the re-signing team.
Teams with an RFA rights tag will offer an initial tender, based on the tender prices below
$1.00M -- Right of First Refusal
$1.50M -- ROFR + 4th round draft pick
$2.00M -- ROFR + 3rd round draft pick
$3.00M -- ROFR + 2nd round draft pick
$5.00M -- ROFR + 1st round draft pick
Now, the baseline prices for an initial contract offer by a GM wishing to place a bid, or the re-signing team where no bid is made, will work based on the following:
1 year contact offer = tender price + 0%
2 year contract offer = tender price + 15% of tender price
3 year contract offer = tender price + 30% of tender price
4 year contract offer = tender price + 45% of tender price.
As an example:
Team "A" tenders an RFA player at ROFR ($1M)
If no bid is made for the player, Team "A" can re-sign the player according to the baseline price, which includes the tender price + the percentage for the number of years
$1M + 4 yrs (45%) = $1.45M
OR...
If Team "B" wishes to place a bid on the player, it must exceed the baseline price of which the owner can retain the player, according to the number of years they want to sign the player
$1.2M + 4 yrs (45%) = $1.74M
Additionally, teams owning the RFA rights are no longer bound to matching an offer in order to retain the player. Using the above example for instance, If Team "B" has a winning bid of:
$1.2M + 3 yrs (30%) = $1.56M
The owning team can exceed the terms of that offer with a contract of $1.2M + 4 yrs (45%) = $1.74M or more, and retain the player for 4 yrs.
Based upon the tender, 4-yr contract offers would look as follows:
$1.00M -- Right of First Refusal (1.45m on a 4yr offer)
$1.50M -- ROFR + 4th round draft pick (2.175m on a 4yr offer)
$2.00M -- ROFR + 3rd round draft pick (2.90m on a 4yr offer)
$3.00M -- ROFR + 2nd round draft pick (4.35m on a 4yr offer)
$5.00M -- ROFR + 1st round draft pick (7.25m on a 4yr offer)
Restricted Free Agent Bidding:
The RFA bidding process uses the same bidding rules, point system and minimum raise as the UFA bidding process. The RFA bidding period will last for 1 week. Once an initial bid is made for a player, other teams have 24 hours to raise the bid. After 24 hours of non-bidding, the team with the winning bid (the last valid bid) may obtain the rights to the player unless the tendering GM matches the winning bid. The tendering GM has 48 hours to decide whether to sign the player to the exact winning bid contract terms, or receive the compensation draft pick(s). You may not bid on your own player in an attempt to set your contract terms.
Note: The winning bid is the only bid that the tendering GM must deal with. Be sure to make a high enough bid to actually force the owner to give him up. You may not re-up the bid later.
Re-Signing Restricted Free Agents Not Bid On:
Once the RFA Bidding period closes, GMs have one week to re-sign their RFAs that have not been bid on. They may be re-signed to a contract for a term of up to four years. The new contract must represent a salary increase from the tender given, and the contract must follow the minimums outlined above for tender and number of years.
