Transition tags are similar to franchise tags and tenders with these differences
-The player is non-exclusive and can be bid upon like RFA tenders but with 2 first round picks compensation
-A GM who bids upon the player can only put one bid in, if this is beaten then he can no longer win that player
-Bids must be at least equal to 50% of the player's current salary
-The owner cannot then try and resign the player if bid upon
-If no bids are received the player re-signs at the Transition Tag rate (Current or Previous Year)
-Once given a Transitional Tag they cannot be tagged the following year with either a franchise or transitional tag again
THE 2 FIRST ROUND PICKS CAN EITHER BE ONE FROM THE CURRENT YEAR AND ONE FOR NEXT SEASONS DRAFT OR BOTH FROM THE CURRENT YEARS DRAFT
Transition Tag Bidding:
Bidding on Transition Tagged Players will occur during the RFA period and bids will be posted in the Transition Tag threads in a similar manner to RFA bids. Transition Tag bids must include the bid amount and a listing of the two 1st Round picks to be forfeited if the bid is won. Bids that do not include all information shall be declared invalid.
The Transition Tag bidding process uses the same bidding rules, point system and minimum raise as the UFA bidding process. Once an initial bid is made for a player, other teams have 24 hours to raise the bid. After 24 hours of non-bidding, the team with the winning bid (the last valid bid) will obtain the rights to the player. The team that transition tagged the player must accept the two first round picks as compensation for loosing the player. Each GM may make only ONE bid on a Transition Tag player. Make sure that you make you best and strongest bid with the two 1st Round picks to be offered the first time. You may not bid on your own player in an attempt to set your contract terms.
