Rational:
Ray has been a statistical disappointment thus far in his pro career, even for an outside LB. On top of that his team just drafted a potential replacement for him, declined his 5th year option and even with a good season he may find himself looking for a new team. Based on comparable LB's this contract would be an overpayment but since he was tendered at this level his offer needs to represent an increase over the tender. I think that a new team in the 2019 NFL season might be exactly what he needs to find a fantasy role and that's why I'm offering a multi year deal. Even if he breaks out though he is still an outside LB who will be dependent on big plays to put up good fantasy points. This is an offer for the long term and if he lives up to his 1st round pedigree I get a good deal on a rush LB, or, more likely, he remains inconsistent and does not become a reliable fantasy start and I carry his salary or take the cap hit for a couple extra seasons.

Approve (1-0) Based on your evaluation, I'm not sure why you would have tendered him at the 2nd Round level. Just another example of Darryl's (Bengals) point that we need to raise the tender prices to prevent over-tendering to eliminate bidding on RFAs.

Just to be conversational re RFA and not argumentative, it's because we have RFA based on fantasy draft position. I picked Ray in the second so his original round drafted is locked in. The next RFA level would have given me ROFR but no incentive to let him walk. It might be worth discussing next off-season, more of a 1-2-3-4 RFA designation availability.
