Miami Receives:
2.30 2.31 DE ARZ Robert Nkemdiche $0.764 2018 RFA LB CAR Shaq Thompson $0.796 2017 RFA
Oakland Receives:
3.31 3.32 2018 MIA 4th (CB - WAS) Josh Norman $1.000 2020 (DT - CLE) Danny Shelton $0.719 2017 RFA (DE - CAR) Julius Peppers $1.000 2017 (DE - ATL) Adrian Clayborne $2.500 2017 (WR - CAR) Charles Johnson $1.500 2019
Proposed on MFL
Trying to condense roster spots and trade up. I'm hoping Shaq Thompson gets a position switch next year from SLB to WLB if Thomas Davis leaves and Nkemdiche becomes the Calais Campbell replacement. Getting rid of top players at their position, Norman and Shelton, hurts me for this year but I'm in full rebuild mode and all these players will help Shane fill out immediate needs without going all-in on the next couple of years and crippling his long term goals.

0-1 Veto I do not get this one for OAK at all. Thompson LB is a soon to be 3 down LB and the compensation is just not there. Not only is OAK giving up the best player in the deal, but also giving up not 1, but 2 second rounders.

I like this deal for the Dolphins, the value is a little questionable, but ultimately there's enough one year bodies in this deal to pass IMO.

I have to agree with the Chiefs here. Miami are giving up 2 young starters (according to three different depth charts) signed on RFA contracts PLUS 2 second round picks this year for a bunch of mostly 1 year deals shelton and norman are the only ones with value going back but too much is leaving Oakland imo
1-2

Approve (2-2) You have to break this trade down a little to see how it all fits together.
Oakland gets the #9 CB - Norman (163 Points), the #13 DT Shelton (98 Points), the #36 DE Peppers (*92 Points), the #49 DE Clayborn (79 Points) and a young WR Johnson (50 Points) now in Carolina with a chance to take over the slot WR role.
Miami gets the #77 LB Shaq Thompson (125 Points) plus the promising young sophomore Nkemdiche who scored two points last year. While both these guys have high upsides, they are far from sure things.
In my opinion the Raiders get the sure thing and the Dolphins are rolling the dice. The difference in picks balances things out.

I'm going to put the final nail in this coffin.
For the Raiders, one of the few teams in this league already in a great position to challenge the reigning champions, I'm not sure of their rationale in this one...and neither does Shane explain it. There are many aspects to building and managing one's team effectively, and this move isn't one of them...for the present or the future, as this trade takes away from both.
Unlike most of the teams that are taken over by a new owner, the Raiders' organisation (along w/a handful of others) was built under great leadership. That said, a couple of those great organisations under new leadership have, in an attempt to re-shape and re-build their teams, immediately traded away great pieces (to their detriment) not understanding the value of those pieces (ask the Patriots). The ability to secure long-term solid pieces and retain them for relatively cheap contracts is an aspect of effective management and building a dynasty.
At the loss of long-term LB and DE, what do the Raiders gain? Whatever it is, I don't see it. And a "top" CB isn't enough.
To be workable imo, the picks need to switch in the least...even then, Raiders will be hard pressed having to replace a LB.
Veto (2-3)
