Much too low a price on too long a deal for a player expected to get starter consideration as a fa next yr. As a point of reference the pats gave him 1.9 mil to keep him this year.

Fair price for a backup, he may just stay as a backup due to his limited game play you cant say he will be a starter next year

Still veto based on above opinion. A QB that could potentially get a starting gig, or even a primary back up is worth more in this league than that.

I'm going to agree with the Bears on this one. Original contracts will be considerably less for a back-up. But we really have to consider the value of a QB as it is one of the most important positions in this league. If a starter happens to go down, how much would his back-up be worth?...

I'm going to say ok with this one. Is it the best offer? No, but again this guy is no lock to get the "gig" if Brady goes down with Mallett there plus that's a big if to be giving so much money.

Ok, after you guys said we pay for now seems a little wierd, but thats probably as I think that Mallett is now backup.
What do you guys think of an increase? $200,000, $300,000?

I haven't seen any news that suggests that Mallet is now the back-up, so yes it is paying for what is now. As for you suggested increase, I can only reaffirm a value that commensurate s with the question I asked. I'll ask another way that could help. If Brady played for another team, and you had Hoyer, what would you want in exchange for him?

But he isn't a starter, he is a backup with limited experience. Very few backups in the league are paid $1m

Just put another offer down. I was inclined to approve it so just try and improve it and give your reason for why it's a sufficient improvement.
